Active Retirees
The Active Retirees group at Congregation Sha'are Shalom usually meets on the third Monday of each month at 11:00am at the synagogue.
The group is comprised of approximately 10 -15 active, educated, and friendly men and women age 55+, who are at various stages of retirement. Some members are still working and join us on their days off and in the summer.
Newcomers are always welcome! Visiting grandparents and relatives are invited too!
In January of 2007, we celebrated our first anniversary.
We have had speakers, trips, and holiday celebrations. Sometimes we have discussed a book or watched a movie and discussed relevant themes.
The purpose of the Active Retirees is to reach out to Jewish seniors in the Leesburg and Loudoun community and provide a warm environment and stimulating programs.
Members may bring a dairy lunch and stay for dessert and coffee following the program.
The cost for regular meetings is $2 for members of any synagogue or Jewish Community Center and $3 for non-members.
Transportation to our meetings is available through Connect- A - Ride. Please call 703-323-6494, M-F, 9:00am-3:00pm.
The Congregation Sha'are Shalom Active Retirees is an "Outreach" group sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia and funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
